Memorial Day Weekend

This past holiday weekend I headed home to Iowa too see family and celebrate a great friend's bachelorette party.

I flew Delta (I finally earned my free ticket!) which takes you through Detroit.....my favorite airport...(sarcasm)
It was a typical Detroit experience. This time it included a delayed flight, a plane with no air condition, and a spastic man on the flight.

But I did make it to Iowa!
The bachelorette party was a fun and relaxing weekend in Galena, Illinois with friends!

The soon to be Mrs. Monson!!!

Only a few more weeks until we are all back for the wedding!!

Last summer Jake and I ate so much watermelon, we were basically addicted.
Then summer turned to fall and fall to winter and there were no watermelons at the store. But there were little ones so I bought one...never again will I buy a small expensive watermelon in the winter it was terrible. But now it's Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start to summer and they are back. We bought one and ate almost all of it in less than 48 hours.

Now I am sitting in the airport waiting to head back to Iowa for a good friend's bachelorette party (So Excited), and I came across this...

Amazing! They look so delicious!

Hope everyone has a FUN and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Pittsburgh Marathon

On Sunday I ran the Pittsburgh Half Marathon. What an amazing experience... I literally can not even describe the feelings I had.. At the start line I was nervous, excited, and anxious. There were so many people running and so many people cheering, the first three miles flew fly.
Mile 11 was the toughest mile for me, it was not a hill but a gentle incline that made all my muscles in my legs tighten up. At mile 12 you were at the top of the hill and could see the finish line at the bottom. At the finish line I felt happy, relieved, and inspired.
I ended up doing pretty well...

I ran the race with the Alzheimer's Association team. Thank you everyone for helping me fund raise the money that is going to help find a cure.
My grandma Mixdorf on the memory board at the race.

The rest of the day my legs were so but we couldn't just sit around because it was so nice out so we took Max and went to Frick Park.

The race was an amazing experience, and I am counting down the days until next year's race.  If you haven't done one do it... seriously do even if it's not for you... do it!
