decisions decisions....

It's about that time again... to buy a new mat that is. I have been trying to tough out sliding around on my mat while practicing for awhile now but it has come to the point where I can't stand it anymore.  Now the decision is do I stay with my beloved Jade mat or try a new brand?
Here are the choices...

(A girl in class loves her. It is super sticky like the Jade mat and she never has to use her Yogi Toe towel)

and finally one of these fun mats.. neat huh?

So many choices... Any recommendations?

Max is puzzled just as well...

PS... When you are done with your yoga mat you can reuse it for other purposes!
Here are some ideas of how to

Here is my old bubblegum pink Jade mat holding down my rug! I have have been sliding on it but my rug does not slide anywhere!

My Friends Can Cook

At night before I go to bed I always look at the Food Gawker app. I don't know why I do it because it always makes me hungry. I browse all the delicious looking food and the fun blogs they come from, especially the sweets. I LOVE Chocolate!  I look until I am very hungry again, and then I decide to go to sleep so breakfast comes faster. haha.
Last night while getting ready to go grab some food with Jake
(OTB Bicycle Bar, Perogies, so good!)

my great friend Molly, sent me this....

(insert me drooling!)

Food Gawker Recipe pictures above

Graham Cracker under the Marshmallow butter cream!!

How great do these look! They look exactly, take that back, BETTER than the cupcakes from the Food Gawker picture.

It is safe to say my friends can cook, and really well! When Jake and I were in Nashville, Jocelyn made us amazing food! And for my bachelorette party, Drew made the girls the best finger/party foods! I definitely need some cooking lessons!

Enjoy looking and becoming hungry looking at Molly's cupcakes!!

Ten Breaths

The other day in yoga we were holding a challenging pose. I felt like we had been holding it an eterannity, and then the teacher says "10 more breaths." At this point sweat was pouring off me (it's hot yoga) and my thighs were burning, and I thought I can not possibly hold this pose for 10 more slow, full, deep breaths. Until the teacher said "it's only 10 breaths, wouldn't it be great if everything that was challenging and painful in life only lasted 10  breaths." It really struck a chord with me and before I knew it those 10 long breaths I was dreading were over.  It truly is something to remember to breath through challenges, and to open you mind and heart through challenging points in life.  And remember t that nothing lasts forever, you will get through these challenges, and only become a stronger person in the end.
Just some food for thought!

I Love This Video

This is a blurry picture but I had to take it fast with the iPhone before he jumped down. I came out of the bedroom and found Max like this. I guess exploring the tv stand is something he hasn't done and thought he needed to do. haha

Tuesday Recipes

I found this recipe blog on Sunday
She has a ton of recipes I want to try. So I made a big list of all the ingredients I needed and we went to the store, only to realize I forgot the list. But  here is what I am going to make tonight.

My favorite kind of cooking... The crock pot.. SO Easy! Hopefully mine will look at good as her picture!

Second thing I want to make today is this
Valentine's Snack Cakes
My mom never bought us Little Debbie products, but that is because she is a great cook and always made us deserts. I remember having Little Debbie snack cakes at the babysitter's house and I loved them haha.  Jake loves anything sweet so if they turn out I know he will love them! It looks pretty simple but we shall see!

Have a great Tuesday!

(sorry about the mess on the dresser)

One More Thing...
Good Job Ry (my brother) on your first race this year!!!!!

Fold A Banana

If you haven't read the book Fold A Banana... You might consider it :) Especially if you are bored..

It is a really funny book. Last time I was home my mom had some books out that she was thinking about getting rid of. Fold A Banana caught my eye.  It's a funny book of 146 things to do if you are bored.
-Throw a tomato into a fan- Solve a mystery- Run around the house naked (haha)- Hold an ice cube as long as possible- The list goes on...

Last night the snow storm reached Pittsburgh and Jake and I didn't want to go out in the cold... we went to dinner at the Library and then came home.. We were acting silly and came up with #147 for Fold A Banana.... dip fingers or noses in warm (not hot don't burn yourself) wax.
The culprit candle warmer

 Waxed nose!

Yep we are strange!

And of course a daily Max picture!

I love love love to wear my hair up in a high bun.  After I watched this video I wear my hair like this almost everyday... http://www.thedaybookblog.com/2010/11/round-two.html.. try this bun and you will be wearing it everyday too!
The Daybook is such a fun blog, I love it!

Mr. Max running with his frog! He's so fast!

I really have been trying to cook more.. Every time I talk to my grandma Tychsen on the phone she always asks... "So what are you cooking these days?" My list of recipes is getting longer.  At my bridal shower my Aunt's had a great idea of putting me together a cookbook of family recipes, and then everyone who came to the shower was supposed to bring a recipe to add to the book! It was such an awesome gift. Some of the family recipes were my grandmas and my aunts wrote back stories that were associated with the recipes. This meant so much to me because we all really were missing her.  It seems like the shower was just yesterday.  My grandpa wanted to leave to go play bridge instead of being in his house which was full of ladies, haha.  At his funeral my aunt told me how he helped grocery shop with her and helped her cook the food for the shower, he was such a great grandpa!

The other day I came across this cookbook called Homemade! Everything in it is homemade, from scratch recipes.. How neat!! Definitely wanting this cookbook!

Weekend Review

Warning: this is a boring post! This is a typical weekend for Jake and me.  It consists of working out, trying new restaurants, playing with Max, grocery shopping and homework. How exciting!

I have really been trying to focus on my core lately.  It helps me out with conquering new yoga poses and running strength.  So after I got done with my run Jake gave me some weight lifting ideas to help strengthen my core. And yep I was soooo sore Sunday morning, but decided to go to an hour and half of hot yoga.  The heat actually helped with the soreness!

Trying to get a picture of Jake..
So Buff.... haha

Saturday Night we tried out Local Restaurant+Bar. We went there on New Year's Eve but only to go out. The food was delicious. Jake loved it too if you can't tell by the picture!

On Sunday I woke up and rolled over to see this little face. Isn't it so funny when they sleep like humans!

When my mom and dad were here, my mom got me a new juicer! (as seen below) It works really well and I love how little it is because our cupboards are bursting with stuff! I tried it out this weekend and LOVED it! Yum fresh squeezed OJ!

That's about it... That's our typical weekend

No Surprises

Right now I am very obsessed with this song... It's one of those songs for me where I could just listen to it on repeat for a few days. So I thought I would share! Have a great night!

Happy Friday! I have had a month off since the last day at L'Oreal, and I am so excited to start my new job with J.Crew on Monday. (I decided admissions was not going to be for me)
Even though this whole week was like a weekend, I am excited it is Friday because as I am typing this Jake is on his way back from Reading, Pa where he has been training all week. Max and I missed him a lot. It snowed today in Pittsburgh and I had to scrape my windows (the automatic start works but I forgot to turn the heat on), but Jake being the nice guy he is usually scrapes my windows when it snow. I never realized how much I truly appreciate this gesture because scrapping windows is not fun!
Anyways... If you know anything about Jake or me then you know we LOVE spicy food. I crave spicy foods all the time! I even take a cayenne pepper vitamin in the morning.  It is supposed to help support a healthy metabolism. Word to the wise: do not take a cayenne pepper vitamin on an empty stomach, it does not feel good!  So tonight we are going out to have Mexican food. Hello Cholula, margaritas, and guacamole!!

Jake does not like guacamole but I do. Which is good because when I make it I get it all for myself. :)
I found this spicy guacamole recipe I use and it is delicious!
This picture is from her website, where the recipe is too.. check it out... http://www.epicureanmom.com/2011/10/spicy-guacamole-secret-recipe-club.html

Have a great Friday!

PS. Max has started some weird/really funny tendencies.. I don't know if it is because I have been here so much with him or what, but every time I look at him and raise my eyebrows up and down he so absolutely nuts. He runs fast and barks then comes back, looks at me and I do it again and he repeats the running and barking! Such a funny dog!

We LOVE living in Pittsburgh! The two weeks Jake had off before he started his new job we were barely at home. We were so busy driving around, checking things out,
and eating new places.  (Fat Heads yummmmmm)

One of my favorite things about Pittsburgh is the view coming out of the tunnel.  If you have never been to Pittsburgh and are coming in through interstate 376 east you will experience an amazing view.  You can not even see the city as you enter the tunnel, and as you exit BAM there is Pittsburgh! So awesome!! iPhone pictures do not do it justice!
